Kimberly Clark Project

Cleanroom Suit

Kimberly-Clark sponsored this project, and I loved it because it was my first in-depth experience with soft goods. My team started this project by visiting one of Purdue’s cleanrooms and walking through the process of putting on a cleanroom suit as though we were going into the cleanroom. We learned that several areas of the suit were difficult to put on without touching the exterior (which would compromise the suit), that the one-size-fits-all boots were very difficult to walk in, and that the zipper was difficult to pull. We began our prototyping based on the pain points we found and tested our ideas throughout the process. Our final design solved all of our discovered problems with an updated mask and hood, zipper, and boots. Our final product can be seen in the video below.
