Problem

Explorers needed a way to quickly learn who was in a specific geographic location. For years they had been requesting a map-based way to browse Explorer locations. While there were many requested features, our team only had a few months to put something together so we prioritized the following:

• The map needed to show location but preserve privacy

• It required an option to opt into appearing on the map for additional privacy, complicating the flow

• The UI needed to work just as well on mobile as it did on desktop so Explorers would feel comfortable updating on the go

• Marketing and communication had to be well thought-out so Explorers could learn about the map once it launched
